N2 - During a three year period of community-wide prehospital cardiopulmonary resuscitation and emergency cardiac care, coronary death in ambulances fell by 75%, prehospital coronary death by 26%, and community coronary death by 15% in persons aged 30 to 69 years. Of those promptly resuscitated, prehospital, 60% survived longterm, and 13.4 lives were saved yearly per 100,000 people aged 30 to 69 years. The 8.8% hospital mortality for acute myocardial infarction and 5% frequency of cardiogenic shock of patients managed prehospital were remarkably lower than patients hospitalized by other means.
