Amplitude of liquid-vapor interfacial oscillations

Abstract

The root mean square amplitude δ of the oscillation of a liquid-vapor interface is computed. The general results for δ reduce to known forms in the classical and quantum limits. Special attention is directed toward the dependence on gravitational constant and lateral size L0 of the interface.
