Abstract

Lead selenide (PbSe) quantum-dot (QD) tandem and corresponding single junction solar cell structures have been fabricated and compared. Transparent organics are used for electron blocking/hole transport and zinc oxide (ZnO) is used for hole blocking/electron transport layer functions. Device light current-voltage behavior shows that recombination at the tandem inter-solar cell region is required to support the tandem photocurrent. AMPS-1D modeling is used to elucidate the tandem and single solar cell band diagrams and the current flow mechanisms.
