Abstract
In this paper an attempt has been made to identify suitable strategies for technological innovation and transfer. This study stems from an investigation of the experience of Finland in technology transfer. It starts with a review of industrialization and transformation in Finland over many years. Then it discusses how research and development have been utilized in improving technology transfer and in promoting diffusion in Finland. Some reported case studies of technology transfer are investigated with the objective of identifying suitable methods for technology transfer. The impact of technological diffusion on productivity growth is studied with the help of a suitable growth theory model. The impact of education, training, and technological advances such as computers, automation, etc. on technology transfer are examined. Finally, a framework is presented for improving technology transfer and diffusion processes.
