Abstract
A new and useful method has been developed for analytical evaluation of the distribution coefficient (Kd) at an infinitesimal exchange. Kdvalues have an important role for the chromatographic separation of ions. This method is based on the extrapolation of the Kielland plot from an ion-exchange isotherm to zero loading. The usefulness of this method is exemplified by evaluation of Kdvalues for Cs+ on Al3+-substituted tobermorite which is known to exhibit high selectivity toward Cs+.
