Abstract

An availability allocation problem is formulated as a multicriteria nonlinear programming problem. The decision variables are component failure and repair rates, while the criteria are steady state system availability, system cost, system weight, and system volume. A new interactive algorithm is developed to solve the multicriteria availability allocation problem. The algorithm combines the priori and progressive articulation of preference approaches. Experimental results of testing the performance of the algorithm are also presented.
