Abstract

This paper presents an inventory model with constant demand rate that considers two modes of transportation, namely truckload shipments and less than truckload carriers. Based on an algorithm for computing the optimal policy for a single stage model over the infinite planning horizon, an extension is made to provide an exact solution to the case of ordering cost with all-units quantity discounts. The proposed algorithm determines the optimal order quantity and optimal cycle time.
