Abstract
This paper provides an optimal policy for a single-stage inventory problem with a constant demand rate, incremental quantity discounts, and a transshipment cost that includes two simultaneous modes of transportation, truckload shipments and less than truckload carriers. The proposed algorithm finds the minimum of the non-convex cost function at each interval defined by the breakpoints of the quantity discounts.
