title = "Analysis of two key issues for using simulation for real-time production control",
abstract = "Although simulation appears to have potential for application as a real-time production control tool, some implementation issues exist that must be addressed before this potential can be realized. This paper will briefly review several key issues, some practical and some statistical in nature, then focus on reporting the detailed analysis of two of these issues related to making good decisions in a timely, real-time manner. Issues regarding appropriate simulation run lengths to yield good statistical output yet allow for rapid decision-making and issues concerned with simulation assumptions during the run will be discussed in detail. Evaluation of the analysis will emphasize assessing the conditions necessary for application of simulation to real-time production control.",
