Abstract
A simple approach for analytical shape sensitivity analysis is presented. The shape sensitivity expressions are separated from the velocity fields. This allows independent, general specification of velocity fields. Coordinate independent calculations are not repeated in the shape design loop. The procedure is implemented for two- and three-dimensional optimization problems and significant savings in computational time are demonstrated over the pure divided-differences approach to obtaining shape sensitivities.
