Abstract

We examine a simple model of anharmonic phonons with application to the superconducting isotope effect. Linear and quadratic electron-phonon coupling are considered for various model potentials. The results of the model calculations are compared with the high-temperature superconductors La2-xSrxCuO4, Y1-xPrxBa2Cu3O7-δ, and YBa2Cu3-xMxO7-δ with M=Zn, Ni, or Fe.
