Abstract
Offshore platform integrity is an area of present concern in both the United States and Europe. Current inspection procedures usually call for visual inspection performed by divers. However, there is current research being conducted on alternate methods of integrity monitoring, among these is acoustic emission. As part of the research effort in monitoring structural integrity, a 1/3 scale model K-joint was instrumented with acoustic emission sensors. The K-joint was then fatigued to failure. The data obtained during this program is presented and discussed.
