Abstract
An interdisciplinary public scholarship course series which is offered through the Department of Architectural Engineering at Penn State University in collaboration with a sister program at the University of Washington, is discussed. This three-part course offers students hand-on experiences with new and unfamiliar green technologies , such as straw-bale construction and water conservation. The goals of the program are presented in pedagogical model that seeks to introduce students to green design technologies and the collaborative processes. An assessment of this course describes it effectiveness at building the collaborative and interdisciplinary skills for students to play leadership roles in the future of sustainable construction.
