Abstract
Thorough assessment of the cognitive status of elderly patients is the foundation of the health exam. An understanding of normal changes of aging impacting on the cognitive abilities of older persons and the ability to systematically screen for potentially reversible deficits are necessary clinical skills. This article offers health care professionals guidelines for conducting the geriatric interview and examination.
