Abstract

Effective pile lengths are determined using the methods described in Part I of the paper. Determinations of the axial and flexural strengths for steel H piles are discussed in detail. Parametric studies including the LRFD method and proposed method are conducted to study the effects of effective pile lengths on pile strengths and design. Effects of pile lateral movement on pile strengths are also discussed. Design equations, tables and charts, and practical recommendations are proposed to assist engineers to design the piles.
