Abstract

Instructional coaching. I would describe it as having a partner to help me think. And it has stretched me. I mean, [the coach] coming in and saying ‘where do you want to go? How do you want to get there? And why do you want to get there?’ has made me really think about what I’m doing in my classroom. I mean before, it was pretty automatic, you know? Let’s just get through this skill in the basal and we’re done for the day. And now it’s like I don’t want to do that anymore. I want to make them [kindergarteners] think and I want to make them be responsible and I want to bring back the fun. (Lisa, exit interview)
