Abstract
The purpose of this article is to describe two instruments developed by the authors to measure attitudes toward computers. The description will address the overall reliability of each instrument, the relevance of each item to the assessment of attitudes, and an examination of the validity of each instrument. The two attitude toward computer inventories were developed by the authors as part of a long-term evaluation of a hospital information system being implemented in a large, tertiary care hospital. One inventory was developed to measure an individual's attitude toward the concept of computers in general; the other was designed to measure attitudes toward the specific computer system that was being implemented.
