Abstract

Although breast cancer is the most common malignancy in women, most women with breast complaints have benign disease. If a mass is present, the most common disease is a benign fibroadenoma. If no mass lesion is present, the most common disease is cyclic mastalgia. Physicians should be capable of performing a thorough history and physical examination to help direct women with breast complaints to the proper places.
