Abstract
Researchers led by Thomas K. Wood of Texas A&M University have genetically engineered "Escherichia coli" bacteria to increase hydrogen output. This organisms can produce more hydrogen by fermentation of glucose. Using this bacteria, it has been able to produce 140 times more hydrogen compared to wild type bacterium, generating electricity for an average US home in a 250-gallon bioreactor.
