Abstract

The borane groups in polymers can be used as the initiators for free radical polymerization. In other words, block and graft copolymers containing polyolefin and functional polymer segments can be prepared from borane functionalized telechelic and comb-like polymers respectively. Under controllable oxidation condition and good choice of borane group, high graft efficiency was obtained with very low concentration of homopolymer.
