Abstract
This paper extended the BEM developed in reference 11 to multidimensional cases. First the numerical formulation of BEM employing front-tracking algorithms is set up. Secondly, numerical implementations for the 2-D phase change conduction problems with particular interest in the freezing of liquids at freezing temperature initially in enclosures are presented. Finally, some 1-D and 2-D numerical examples for freezing of liquids in square or rectangular prisms are given. A comparison of results by BEM with those by other numerical methods or exact and analytical solutions shows that BEM appears to be a very effective numerical means for multidimensional phase change conduction problems.
