Abstract

On November 12, 1986 a symposium was held at the 16th Annual Meeting of the Society for Neuroscience which brought together the pioneers and leaders in the brain spectrin field to discuss the structure, location, and function of this important cytoskeletal protein. In this brief overview, we summarize the major new concepts which emerged from this symposium.
