Abstract
A new two-component catalyst system for the trimerization of ethylene to 1-hexene with high selectivity is presented. This contrasts with typical oligomerization reactions of this type, where a wide range of α-olefins from C4 to over C30 are observed and the population is described by a Schulz-Flory distribution pattern. GC and 1H-NMR quantified the products. Reaction results and the nature of the catalyst are discussed. Original is an abstract.
