Abstract

Spontaneous Brillouin scattering was used to determine the vibrational relaxation in liquid benzene. Comparison between theoretical predictions and experimental results reconfirms the existence of one relaxation of all but the lowest energy mode of the molecule, with the relaxation of the last mode occurring at a higher frequency than those of this experiment.
