N2 - Home users are in need for broadband communications access globally. Broadband powerline communications has been advanced through last decade and it is going to be a mature broadband access in near future. Meanwhile, indoor optical wireless communications through lighting LEDs has been investigated, recently. Suitable channel models are proposed for each of these systems and the corresponding transmission capacity values are calculated. It is shown that the combination of these two technologies makes an efficient method for fulfilling the premise of broadband access for home networking, while providing efficient and low-cost lighting.
