Abstract

Carbon-carbon bond cleavage in dianions is faster than in radical anions as expected from thermodynamic considerations. However, in contrast to the radical anion fragmentation, where ΔG ≅ ΔG, the dianion scission has a much larger intrinsic barrier (ΔG ≫ ΔG).
