Abstract
As demonstrated in this volume, considerable advances have been made in clarifying how social contextual factors contribute to students’ school adjustment and their corresponding educational performance. Further, several chapters provide valuable insight into potential mechanisms of change and associated interventions that leverage current knowledge on the influence of peers in the classroom. However, there is much more work that can be done to fully harness the power of natural social dynamic processes in ways that help to facilitate all students’ productive engagement and their development of positive social relationships and competencies.
