Abstract

Complexes of phosphazenes with I2 have been prepared with molecular and polymeric phosphazene/I2 ratios ranging from 8 to 0.2. For brevity the phosphazenes are identified as follows: [NPC12]n; [NP(OPr)2]n (=[NP(OCH2CH2CH3)2]n); [NP(OCH2CF3)2]n (=[NP(0TFE)2]n); [NP(OC2H4OC2H4OCH3)2]n (-MEEP). Resonance Raman spectra indicate that polyiodides are formed for all but the [NPC12]n-iodine system. Impedance measurements demonstrate high bulk conductivities near ambient temperature for the MEEP and [NP(OPr)2]n-based systems. For all systems, the conductivity increases with increasing iodine loading.
