Abstract

Extractive, holocellulose, Klason lignin, ash and alpha-cellulose contents of hybrid poplar clone NE-388 as a function of site, management strategy (control, fertilization, irrigation, and fertilization/irrigation), and tree component (wood, bark, and wood/bark) were examined. Management strategy and tree component influenced the data more than site. Combining the chemical content data with biomass yields permitted an estimate of the ethanol yields by age and management strategy.
