Abstract

The twentieth edition of Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater was published in 1998. The new edition contains several new sections, including inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry, flow injection analysis, potassium permanganate, capillary ion electrophoresis, and volatile organic halogen. The analytical techniques for determining organic and inorganic chemicals in natural water, wastewater and drinking water was reviewed, emphasizing on the chemical species of environmental interest and some new biological methods for aqueous pollutants.
