Abstract

Norming data of DIAL-R, a preschool screening test, were reanalyzed. The squared-error loss generalizability approach was used to assess the classification reliability of subscale and total scale scores by age group. It was found that the classification reliabilities were uniformly high for all age groups. Since DIAL-R is explicitly designed for screening purposes only and individual subscale scores are not interpreted independently, despite earlier criticisms of low classical reliability estimates, it is suggested that DIAL-R is quite reliable for its intended use.
