Abstract

In order to detect chemical oxygen demand (COD) of the surface water and wastewater quickly and accurately, a cross pass-through fiber optic sensor is designed. A full spectrum detection system of water quality COD is built. The mathematical model between COD value and absorbance spectrum is established. The COD value of tested water samples is detected by the system. Compared with HACH DR 6000 multi-parameter water quality detecting instrument, the result show that the indicating error of COD value detected by the built system and HACH DR6000 multi-parameter water quality detecting instrument is less than 3%. The built system can be better applied to real-time online detection of water quality COD.
