Abstract

Four predictions are examined and discussed. The 'overkill' hypothesis is suggested to be unnecessary. Herbivores faced with new plant associations may have poisoned themselves to extinction. Mega-herbivores may have faced intense niche competition. The model depends upon the magnitude of environmental change and the disruption of coevolved systems caused by individualistic reorganisation. -T.M.Kennard
