Abstract
To meet the challenge of reaching out to a large and diverse group of first-year students (∼7,000), the Department of Library Learning Services at Penn State partners with units across its University Park campus, as well as all other library departments, to plan an annual Open House. What started as a simple walking tour of the building fifteen years ago has become an important educational event with strategic learning outcomes, introducing students to library facilities and resources. Ultimately, the result of this evolution and the many successful partnerships is an event with an average annual attendance of 3,500 students and an overwhelmingly positive student response to the activities and library personnel.
