Abstract

The collision-induced electronic energy transfer that occurred in I2when ion-pair electronic states collided with ground states were observed. The cross section for the E→D collision-induced energy transfer was found to be nearly 18 Å. A mathematical model was developed to explain the vibrational energy dependence of the D state distributions.
