title = "Comparison of near-field transforming metasurfaces and inhomogenous and anisotropic lenses for low-profile transmitarray illumination",
abstract = "Transmitarray antenna performance is limited by the amplitude and phase uniformity of the illumination source. Horns are a common feed-source for transmitarrays, but require large separation distances in order to provide unifoml illumination, thus, limiting the ability to realize low-profile horn-fed transmitarray systems. In order to overcome This challenge, metasurfaces can be introduced to redistribute the horn's near field and provide uniform phase and magnitude illumination on the transmitarray within a compact space. The efficacy of near-field transforming metasurfaces is contrasted against gradient index isotropic and homogeneous anisotropic lens solutions.",
