    Abstract

It has been shown previously that quadratic residue number systems have interesting properties for reducing the complexity of VLSI digital signal processors by minimizing the interaction between the real and imaginary channels when complex arithmetic is required. The authors present a design for recursive digital filters with a complex impulse response based on quadratic residue number system concepts. Results of computer-based experiments illustrate the feasibility of the proposed structure and demonstrate the nature of deadband limit cycles that result from arithmetic quantization in these new structures.
