N2 - Reconfigurable metamaterials have shown to be integral to the future of next-generation antenna systems. However, current technologies such as origami, varactor, and pindiode based designs can be limited when deployed into real-world applications. On the other hand, compliant mechanisms, when integrated with conventional metamaterial antenna technologies, can expand the available design space, and overcome the limitations of these conventional solutions. To this end, a compliant mechanism iris-based antenna is presented with continually varying frequency reconfiguration capabilities to demonstrate the efficacy of the approach.
