Abstract
A composite piezoelectric wire is made into a hydrophone device and the performance is tested in a standard underwater test facility in the frequency range 10 to 70 kHz. Its performance is comparable to that of standard Brüel &K hydrophone type 8103 in that frequency range. It has advantage of the continuous sensor element.
