Abstract
A new technique is presented to be used in locating the flood front position during secondary and/or tertiary recovery processes, utilizing the pressure transient data taken on vertically fractured injection wells. The swept volume was idealized as an elliptical region with focii located at the tips of the fracture wings. The fluids flowing through the inner (swept volume) and the outer (unswept volume) regions were assumed to be slightly compressible while the hydraulic diffusivity and mobility values for the inner and outer regions were considered to be different.
