Comprehensive management of asthma

Asthma is increasing in prevalence and apparently in severity, with increasing mortality being recognized throughout the world. New therapies are now available; however, there is still apparent underutilization of antiinflammatory agents. Guidelines have been published in an attempt to enhance the quality of care and to provide some standardization. Our manuscript is a comprehensive approach to the management of asthma and includes sections on the drugs presently available, education techniques, trigger avoidance and a review of the guidelines published.
