Abstract

In the teaching of the kinematics of mechanisms, students often have a problem visualizing the motion of the mechanisms. This article describes a new teaching approach in the form of computer software. The programs animate the motion of the mechanism on the screen and also analyze the motion and draw a complete set of motion curves. This article presents the computer-aided design and analysis of four different mechanisms: slider-crank, shaper, and two different types of cams. Using this software as a substitute for mechanical models makes the learning process more effective.
