Abstract
Various aerospace industries are working with SGI and Intel to increase the agency's supercomputing capability and processing capabilities. NASA Ames will integrate a cluster of 20 interconnected SGI Altix 512-processor systems, for a total of 10,240 Itanium2 processors. It will also provide an estimated tenfold increase in NASA'ssuprcomputing capability. The supercomputing capability will allow NASA to continue its work in the sciences while also preparing for the space shuttles return to the flight.
