Abstract
The use of computer technology in managing family forestlands is increasing. Growth, treatment, and visualization models can facilitate better understanding and communication of sustainable forest management concepts. Learning to use these tools can he challenging, and the technology has not been widely adopted at the landowner level. The Landscape Management System and associated Inventory Wizard have made these technologies easier to use and more accessible to landowners. Programs in Pennsylvania and Washington are promoting the use of this system by family forest owners.
