Abstract

Sociologists study inequality in a variety of forms and venues. For much of the last century, however, exploration of inequality in the United States proceeded largely without explicit attention to geographic space. But the discipline has entered a new era. A broad movement to spatialize sociology beyond the legacy of past traditions has arisen. New thematic areas for research have emerged while older, familiar ones are being reshaped.
