Abstract
The investigation of the transient photoconductivity and recombination dynamics of quasifree electrons was discussed by using terahertz time domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS). The THz technique provides direct information on the frequency-dependent conductivity of the material and its temporal evolution photoexcitation. The study suggests that the detection of time domain wave forms of the THz electric field permits the direct determination of the real and imaginary part of the conductivity of the electrons over wide frequency range. It was observed that electron density is found to decay on a time scale of a few hundred picoseconds, which becomes shorter with increasing excitation density.
