Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

This chapter provides an example of how to discover scholarly resources based on a research topic. To connect individual and collective pieces to the metaphorical puzzle (research study), researchers must: (1) understand what each piece entails, (2) clarify boundaries of what publications to include and exclude, and (3) understand how each piece could potentially create and/or enhance the larger puzzle. As a class, students will conduct a literature search based on a common topic, beginning with what is accessible or indexed through their online institutional library database. More specifically, students will narrow literature based on key terms, search functions, and brief review of abstracts. Reference management software and literature compilation strategies will be discussed.
