N2 - Continuous level measurements are vital for process control in many industrial applications. In this research, a single transducer consisting of a long strip of poled polyvinylidene difluoride (PVDF) has been investigated for a noninvasive level measurement. Experiments on single-wall vessel geometries demonstrated that the PVDF strip transducer provided a continuous, noninvasive level measurement on a single data collection channel. Both theoretical calculations and experiments showed that a rectangular transducer provided a linear response. The experimental results were in excellent agreement with the theoretical predictions.
