Abstract

This paper addresses the theoretical and practical “how” questions of: 1) how does cross-unit coordination occur; and 2) how can it be improved? I drew from multiple existing theories to develop a contextualized meso-theory of coordination, which was tested in a hospital using a sophisticated research design and rigorous analyses.
