N2 - The authors regret that the original version of this publication contains two errors that are corrected as follows: 1. There is an error in the vitrinite reflectance data Ro,max. It is listed incorrectly as 1.39 %. The correct vitrinite reflectance data is 0.91 %.2. There is also an error in the apparent rank assignment. The apparent rank was incorrectly attributed to “subbituminous”. This error occurred during the change from the Chinese to the ASTM classification system and was unfortunately missed by the authors and reviewers. The correct rank is bituminous. Specifically: With a vitrinite reflectance Ro,max of 0.91 %, the apparent rank is high volatile bituminous [1], specifically high volatile A bituminous [2]. With a volatile matter value (dmmf basis) of 34.70 wt.% the rank is undetermined from the ASTM rank proximate analysis (being >31 wt.%), thus requiring a calorific value evaluation. The authors thank Dr. Jim Hower of the University of Kentucky for alerting us to the misrepresentation of coal rank. The authors apologize to the Fuel readers for any confusion or misdirection this error caused.
